GLOSS-Brasil has a key role in the determination of variations in the sea level to aid environmental sciences research to improve the social and economic planning.
Information of tidal variations and deviations from the mean levels, mostly due to weather or ocean currents, are used in a wide range of interests, such as port operations, fisheries, aquaculture, exploration of mineral resources, coastal development, and recreation.
