What is Goos-Brazil?
GOOS-Brazil is the Brazilian national GOOS component of the Regional Alliance for the Upper Southwest and Tropical Atlantic, OCEATLAN.
The Brazilian ocean observing system includes gathering, coordination, quality control, and operational distribution of oceanographic data.

Modules
Module II: living marine resources
Monitoring and analysis of living resources in the ocean with the perspective of sustainable exploitation.
The activities underway for this module are:
- Assessment of the Living Resources of the Economic Exclusive Zone (REVIZEE) Program. Obtain in a short period of time information on the distribution, amount and biomass of the fishing resources of the Brazilian economic exclusive zone.
- Stock, fishing effort and capture data continuously provided through a map system by the government environmental agency (IBAMA);
- Assessment of the living resources in the shelf-break region between Cabo Frio and Cabo de Santa Marta, in collaboration with the University of Sao Paulo;
- Environmental monitoring program of Bacia de Campos and Cabiunas (Southeast Brazil) in oceanic and coastal areas, in cooperation with PETROBRAS (the Brazilian oil company);
- Program to measure physical-optical and biological parameters in the South Atlantic to aid in the development of bio-optical algorithms, as a co-operation of University of Rio Grande (FURG) and Brazilian Space Agency (INPE).
