What is Goos-Brazil?
GOOS-Brazil is the Brazilian national GOOS component of the Regional Alliance for the Upper Southwest and Tropical Atlantic, OCEATLAN.
The Brazilian ocean observing system includes gathering, coordination, quality control, and operational distribution of oceanographic data.

Modules
Module III: health of the oceans
Its concerns are to assess the effects of anthropogenetic activities, in particular with respect to pollutants, in the marine environment.
The activities underway for this module are:
- Monitoring of heavy metals in the Brazilian continental shelf;
- Monitoring sources and distribution of mercury in Brazil;
- Monitoring environmental health indicators in coastal lagoons along the continental shelf of the State of Rio de Janeiro;
- Monitoring program of Bacia de Campos and Cabiunas basin;
- Environmental studies in oceanic and coastal areas in Southern Brazil.
